Service Description

Today’s chief officers are challenged with numerous complex issues, including funding, recruitment, community/political support, and strategic planning. Career or volunteer, many chief officers are elected or appointed to the positions without the “Need to Know” necessary for them. Transitional training periods are scarce, so learning as you go is a reality. This Program is designed to provide an overview of topics associated with chief officer positions. Participants will interact with other current and/or future chief officers in open discussions about the challenges affecting the fire service. The program goal is to assure participants leave with new ideas and best practice solutions to resolve the challenges facing chief officers today and in the future, so they are better prepared to serve in their positions. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS: instructors involved in this Program are currently or have served in chief officer positions in either a career or volunteer department. With their many years of experience, instructors will facilitate discussion and provide input based on their experience. Special guests, with expertise in each topic, will also provide participants with real life experiences and allow participants an opportunity to ask questions pertaining to the program topics.
